• The speed of the sound may vary if any change occurs in the temperature. Moreover, temperature also changes the velocity of the liquid, which may bring variations in ultrasonic readings. To compensate this limitation, usually temperature sensors are used in ultrasonic transducer, which may alter the speed of sound to give correct readings.• The presence of heavy foam or dust inside the vessel can also bring changes in the readings. Snyder’s Ultrasonic Level Indicator allows a simple and reliable non-contact level measurement of fluids in a vertical single wall or double wall polyethylene tank.  Ultrasonic sensors transmit pulsed waves of high frequency sound. If the sound wave meets a reflective object, such as liquid, it bounces back toward the sensor. The senor records the information and calculates the distance to the object.  Snyder’s Ultrasonic Level Indicator system provides a visual display of liquid level in tank showing gallonage in measurements of hundreds of gallons along with 4-20 mA output for other alarm or control systems as well as four independent contacts capable of handling 10 amps each. Ultrasonic Level Indicator has become immensely popular in industrial as well automobile industry in USA and all over the world. The reason for its popularity is its smart and robust technology, which is capable of giving highly accurate results without a mess and in lesser time. Ultrasonic level indicator may not require an entire team of resources to operate it, but it needs a smart engineered mind to operate it properly, while understanding its complete workings.

Since ultrasonic level sensor works on the basic principal of ultrasonic sound waves that travel through the medium of air from transducer to the liquid object to determine the liquid level. It is very important for the operator to know its complete workings or there can arise some minor complications.

In order to avoid practical limitation, certain techniques are used by the operators to achieve maximum efficiency from the ultrasonic level indicator. As foam acts as sound absorbent, and may disturb the movement of sound waves. To enhance performance in this case, a beam guide is attached to the transducer, or a stand pipe is installed inside the container.• Extreme turbulence of the liquid or the surface turbulence can cause fluctuating in liquid level indicator readings. To adjust this problem, a damping adjustment in the liquid level indicator is done to control the maximum changing rate of the displayed material level and fluctuations.

Each contact can be programmed to operate in different opening and closing methods (7 modes). Contacts can be used to controls pumps, valves, alarms, etc.
