Air Injector

The air injector or “direct” injector is an electromechanical valve used to deliver metered quantities of fluid in the form of defined and controlled spray plume geometry.

Air Injectors are preassembled to save time and energy in the field. Air injection is the chemical free way to oxidize dissolved iron and sulfide in the water.

These air injectors are normally installed in-line between the pump and the well tank, and draw air into the system as the pump cycles. The features easy disassembly using true union connectors for scheduled cleaning.

Application and Functions

The air injector was originally developed as part of the OCP direct injection system. Considered the “heart” of the OCP system, the function of the air injector is as follows:

  • Deliver metered fuel to the combustion chamber
  • Combine air with metered fuel to provide superior atomization
  • Generate spray plume geometry required for in-cylinder charge stratification.

The air injector is suitable for use in any application requiring delivery of a finely atomized fluid spray.Synerject has continued to improve the performance of the air injector by developing a new “family” of air injectors called the Strata. The Strata family of air injectors is designed to minimize package size, while maximizing commonality and flexibility for use across a wide range of applications.

Although the Strata design allows for the flexibility to change packaging for different applications, the manufacturing processes are consistent, allowing for multiple variations of the Strata injector to be produced on the same automated production line.
